As a continuation of her previous work Matria, Rocio dives into bodily metamorphosis, powered by the stomping rhythms of Malambo and the spirit of Gauchopunk, a term coined by writer Michel Nieva for a genre fusing science fiction, Argentinian literature, and cyberpunk. In this funky mashup of the past and the future, the organic and the artificial, the body mutates and challenges notions of identity and representation, drumming and singing as a form of resistance. Through rhythmic and visual dissociation, AirtaM invites the audience to reconsider how we see and experience the world. The performance is part of a practice-based research funded by the 2024/2025 Tanzpraxis Fellowship.
